April is Distracted Driving Month – Pledge to Be an Attentive Driver

Image may contain: 1 person, sitting

–April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month–

Distracted driving is a public health issue that affects us all. The latest statistics show motor vehicle fatalities are up 6% from 2015. More than 40,000 people were killed on our nation’s roadways last year, and distracted driving is a major contributor.

Many are pledging to their Children or Loved Ones to be an Attentive Driver either personally and also online:

https://forms.nsc.org/distracteddriving_pledge.aspx…

I pledge to Just Drive for my own safety and for others with whom I share the roads. I choose to not drive distracted in any way – I will not:

•Have a phone conversation – handheld, hands-free, or via Bluetooth
•Text or send Snapchats
•Use voice-to-text features in my vehicle’s dashboard system
•Update Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Video or other social media
•Check or send emails
•Take selfies or film videos
•Input destinations into GPS (while the vehicle is in motion)
•Call or message someone else when I know they are driving

TIPS to help prepare for another Nor’Easter

With the Beginning of Spring only 8 days away, New England is bracing for yet another Nor’easter.

Here are a few tips to help prepare for this storm from one of our Insurance Providers, Arbella Mutual :

• Please be sure to place generators outside to avoid any potential for carbon monoxide to enter the home or building
• Have batteries and alternative light sources available and ensure that cell phones remain fully charged, in the event of power loss
• Safely use a snow rake to remove existing snow from roof edges and gutters
• Take photographs of any damage caused by the recent, prior storms which you have not yet had the opportunity to repair

Important RMV Announcement
NO RMV System Access March 23-25

RMV Services & System Access Unavailable from 7 p.m. on March 22 until 8 a.m. on March 26

The Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) has announced that all RMV services and system access, with the exception of law enforcement, will be unavailable from 7 p.m., Thursday, March 22 until 8 a.m., Monday, March 26 due to the RMV changing over to a new computer system that will allow the RMV to comply with federal and state mandates.

During this time period, there will be no motor vehicle inspections available in the state, no RMV online services, all RMV service locations will be closed, and AAA locations will be unable to process RMV services for AAA members.

For more information about the RMV services affected during the temporary service suspension, visit the link on our facebook page at:
